Out of Touch make it on to compilation

JOE Hurry, known to the local gig-goers as frontman of Out Of Touch, has scored - the group is included on the first compilation CD to come out of the Brighton Institute of Modern Music.

Out Of Touch's track, called Annoyance, which Joe co-wrote for the album, was picked up on by Ian Ramage, MD of music giant BMG Publishing, and the BIMM directors for the CD.

The impressively-packaged album is called How To Mend A Broekn Pier and the cover features a sombre painting of Brighton's crumbling West Pier.

It features a wide range of musical styles showcased by the BIMM students including raggae, heavy metal and pop.

Kevin Nixon, director at BIMM and partner in Major/Minor Management, said: "This is the real deal. BIMM is the reverse of pre-packaged pop and we see ourselves as a unique centre of excellence for truly talented young writers, singers and players.

Kevin said: "Making the album gave artists a chance to shine."

He added: "It was clear from the sessions that BIMM produces artists with the right attitude."

The album is being distributed through the Setanta label, home of Evan Dando.

We will review How To Mend A Broken Pier soon but in the meantime, it is available for £10 from BIMM's web site at: www.bimm.co.uk.

Profits will go to the Orpheus Music Centre for disabled young people at Goodstone in Surrey.
